Online nutrition coaching: calories, macros and real meals in the app

Meal-prep box with rice, shredded chicken, broccoli and cucumber

Online nutrition coaching gives you a nutrition plan built around how you really eat, then helps you follow it with daily check-ins. Instead of a strict meal list, you get targets for calories and protein, a simple meal structure and practical swaps for eating out, family meals and travel. Your coach adjusts it as your body and schedule respond.

I’m Gawhar Ahmad, licensed pharmacist and head coach at Being Fit. Our online nutrition coaching runs through the Being Fit app, and our team includes a qualified nutritionist. Here is how it works and what we focus on.

Key takeaways

  • Targets for energy and protein matter more than perfect meals.
  • The plan fits your culture, work lunches and family table.
  • Daily check-ins catch problems early.
  • No supplement shortcuts: food first.
  • Pricing is on WhatsApp: 058 572 2691.

What do calories and macros actually mean?

Calories are the energy in food. Macros are the three main nutrients that provide it: protein, carbohydrate and fat. For fat loss you generally need to eat a little less energy than you use; for muscle gain, enough energy and protein to support training. Your coach sets starting targets from your assessment and adjusts them based on your progress, not a formula alone.

Why does protein get so much attention?

Protein supports muscle repair and growth after strength training and helps keep you full. The International Society of Sports Nutrition position stand suggests 1.4 to 2.0 g of protein per kg of body weight per day for most people who exercise. Your plan spreads protein across your meals in foods you like. If you have kidney disease or another medical condition, check protein targets with your doctor first.

What does a plan look like in practice?

MealStructureExample idea
BreakfastProtein plus fibreEggs with vegetables and wholegrain toast, or Greek yoghurt with fruit
LunchProtein, vegetables, a portion of carbsGrilled chicken, salad and rice, or a business-lunch fish dish
SnackProtein if neededLaban, nuts and fruit, or a protein shake if convenient
DinnerProtein, vegetables, carbs to suit trainingFamily meal with portions adjusted
Examples only; your plan is built around your foods and goals.

We do not ban foods. If you love machboos or a Friday brunch, the plan accounts for it.

How do daily check-ins work for nutrition?

Each day in the Being Fit app you note how closely you followed the plan, along with energy, hunger, sleep and training. You can log food in detail if you like numbers, or simply rate your day if you do not. Your coach looks for patterns, such as evenings where you are always hungry, and suggests a specific fix.

How does it work with training?

Nutrition and training are planned together. On heavier training days you may eat more carbohydrate; on rest days, less. If you also have an online workout plan, your coach sees both in one place. The World Health Organization recommends regular activity alongside a healthy diet, and that combination is what we coach.

What about supplements?

As a pharmacist I take this seriously: food comes first. We may suggest a protein powder for convenience, or that you ask your doctor about vitamin D if you rarely get sun, but we do not sell supplements or rely on them. If you take regular medicines, always check new supplements with your doctor or pharmacist.

Who is online nutrition coaching for?

  • People who train already but are not seeing changes.
  • Busy professionals who eat out often.
  • Anyone who has tried strict diets and rebounded.
  • People living anywhere in the world who want a qualified team.

If you have diabetes, an eating disorder, are pregnant or have another medical condition, speak to your doctor before changing your diet, and tell us at the assessment.

Eating out and travelling

Dubai life involves a lot of eating out. Your coach helps you build a simple routine for restaurants: choose a protein first, add vegetables, then decide how much of the rice, bread or dessert fits your day. For brunches and celebrations, the plan can be lighter earlier in the day rather than skipping the event. When you travel, the same rules apply wherever you are, and your coach can suggest options for hotel breakfasts and airport food.

Ramadan, holidays and busy seasons are planned for too. Your coach can shift meal timing, protein targets and training load around fasting hours or a heavy work month, so the plan bends instead of breaking.
