Women-only training at home in Dubai: privacy, modest activewear and training in hijab

Women-only training at home means a female coach comes to your apartment or villa, or trains you in a quiet building gym or online, so you can exercise privately, in whatever you’re comfortable wearing, including a hijab and full-length activewear. At Being Fit, highly qualified female coaches cover strength, fat loss, yoga, Pilates, boxing and kickboxing across Dubai.

I’m Gawhar Ahmad, licensed pharmacist and head coach at Being Fit. Many of the women we train tell us the same thing: they want results, but a busy mixed gym isn’t where they feel at ease. Training at home with a female coach removes that barrier. Here is how it works, and some practical tips for training comfortably and modestly in Dubai’s climate.

Key takeaways

  • Female coaches can train you at home, in a building gym or online, anywhere in Dubai.
  • You choose what you wear. Full-length, breathable activewear and a sports hijab work well.
  • A clear space the size of a mat is enough for a complete strength programme.
  • Every programme starts with an assessment and includes a customised nutrition plan.
  • Ladies boxing, self-defence, pregnancy and postnatal training and menopause coaching are also available.

Who are Being Fit’s female coaches?

Our team includes several women coaches, each with a specialism, so we can match you to the right person:

  • Deeksha: personal training, yoga (Hatha, Vinyasa, stretching), rehab and injury-safe training, women’s fitness and fat-loss workouts.
  • Juanita: Pilates (mat and strength), stretching, core strength and posture correction.
  • Syrine: personal training, boxing and kickboxing.
  • Shima: kickboxing, cardio conditioning, and strength and agility training.

You can read more on our coaches page and tell us your preference when you book.

Can I train in a hijab?

Yes, and many women do. A few things make it more comfortable, especially in Dubai’s heat:

  • Choose a sports hijab made from light, breathable, quick-drying fabric that stays in place when you move, rather than pins.
  • Wear full-length activewear in moisture-wicking fabric. Loose tops over leggings work well and still let your coach see your form.
  • Keep the room cool with air conditioning or a fan, and keep water close by.
  • Pick the right shoes for strength work: flat and stable. Barefoot is fine for yoga and Pilates.

Training at home also means you don’t have to change or travel in your workout clothes, which many women find makes it easier to stay consistent.

What does a women-only home session include?

  1. A warm-up for the joints and muscles you’ll use.
  2. Strength training with dumbbells, bands or bodyweight, progressed week by week. The NHS recommends strengthening activities that work all the major muscles on at least two days a week.
  3. Conditioning: short intervals, boxing pad work or a circuit, depending on your goals.
  4. Mobility and stretching to finish.

Your plan is built from your assessment, which looks at posture, movement, mobility and body composition, and can include blood tests. If strength training is new to you, our article on myths about strength training for women is a good place to start.

What if I’m pregnant, postnatal or going through menopause?

We offer pregnancy and postnatal training with a qualified coach, following your doctor’s advice, and menopause coaching built around strength, bone health and energy. Read our guides to exercise in pregnancy and after birth and menopause and strength training.

Can I learn boxing or self-defence with a female coach?

Yes. Ladies boxing and kickboxing is a popular way to build fitness and confidence, and we also run women’s self-defence sessions.
