For most people who work long days, the early morning is the only part of the diary nobody else books. Train before work and the session is done before the first call, the first crisis or the first client dinner can get in the way. The hard part is not the workout itself. It is building the evening and morning routine that makes the early start easy.
I’m Gawhar Ahmad, licensed pharmacist and head coach at Being Fit. Our executive personal training coaches train busy professionals in residence gyms and apartments in Business Bay, DIFC and Downtown, before the working day starts. Here is what makes early sessions stick, and what to do if you are not a natural morning person.
Key takeaways
- Early sessions are the least likely to be cancelled by meetings.
- The evening before matters more than the alarm: protect your sleep routine.
- A longer warm-up helps when you train soon after waking.
- Forty-five to sixty focused minutes is enough when the plan is good.
- Pack your kit and plan breakfast the night before.
Why does training before work work so well?
Because it removes decisions. A fixed early slot, with a coach arriving at your building, turns training into an appointment rather than a choice you make at the end of a tiring day. Many people find an early session also sets the tone for the day: it is easier to eat well and keep moving once training is done. It also helps you reach the weekly targets in the World Health Organization guidelines: muscle-strengthening activity on two or more days and 150 to 300 minutes of moderate activity a week.
How do you make waking early easier?
Start the night before. The NHS advises a regular sleep routine, going to bed and getting up at similar times every day, including days off. It also suggests avoiding screens for an hour before bed, not eating large meals late, and avoiding caffeine, alcohol and nicotine close to bedtime. For many executives the real change is moving the last emails earlier, not setting a louder alarm.
- Set a fixed bedtime on training nights and keep it on most other nights.
- Pack your kit and fill your water bottle before bed.
- Plan breakfast so it is ready after the session.
- Put the phone away from the bed, so the alarm makes you stand up.
Should you eat before an early session?
It depends on you. Some people train well on water and a coffee; others feel light-headed without something small, such as a banana, a yoghurt or a slice of toast. If you take medicines for blood pressure or blood sugar, talk to us and your doctor about timing, because some medicines change how you feel in a fasted session. Breakfast afterwards should include protein. Your nutrition plan sets this out for your goals.
What does an early-morning session look like?
| Part | What | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Warm-up | Easy cardio, mobility for hips, spine and shoulders | 10–12 min |
| Strength | Two or three main lifts, such as a squat, a press and a row | 25–30 min |
| Conditioning | Short intervals on a bike or rower, or pads | 8–10 min |
| Cool-down | Stretching and slow breathing | 5 min |
Joints and muscles often feel stiffer soon after waking, so we use a slightly longer warm-up and build up the load across the first sets. Heavy, technical lifts come after that, not first.
Where can you train before work in Business Bay?
- Your residence gym, often quiet early in the day. We are allowed to train in most Dubai communities and private gyms (Damac, Emaar, Al Wasl, Wasl Gate and more). If your building requires approval, we help you with the permission process.
- At home, if your apartment has a clear space the size of a mat or two. See our Business Bay home personal training page.
- Your office building gym, where the building allows visiting trainers.
- Train SF in The Dubai Mall, our base, a few minutes from Business Bay.
What about the heat in the morning?
From November to March, Business Bay’s canal walk is at its best early in the morning or after sunset. From late spring to early autumn, keep hard sessions indoors. The NHS lists heavy sweating, dizziness, headache, nausea and cramps among the signs of heat exhaustion: stop, move somewhere cool and drink water. Our heat and hydration guide has more, written from a pharmacist’s point of view.
What if you are not a morning person?
Then do not force it. If evenings are more predictable for you, train then. The best slot is the one you keep for months. Some clients split the difference: two early sessions in the week, when the diary is busiest, and one later session at the weekend. Your coach can also move a session on WhatsApp when a week changes. Our three-session week for CEOs shows how the sessions fit together, and our article on executive burnout and strength training covers the stress side.
How many early sessions a week do you need?
Two or three coached sessions are enough for most people when they also walk more during the day. If you want more, the full range is Essential (3 sessions a week), Signature (4 a week), Premium (up to 5 a week, at your home or building gym, with priority scheduling) and VIP (5 to 6 elite sessions a week), each with a customised nutrition plan. Pricing for every package is on our packages page, or WhatsApp for pricing on 058 572 2691.

Frequently asked questions
How early can sessions start in Business Bay?
Early-morning sessions are available, at a time that suits you, subject to coach availability. Tell us your preferred times when you book.
Is it better to train fasted in the morning?
Neither is clearly better for most people. Train in the way that feels good and safe for you, and ask us first if you take medicines that affect blood sugar or blood pressure.
How long should a morning session be?
Forty-five to sixty minutes is enough when the plan is focused. A longer warm-up matters more in the morning.
Can my trainer come to my Business Bay tower?
Yes, where your building allows visiting trainers. We help with the permission process.
What does it cost?
Pricing is on our Packages page, or WhatsApp us on 058 572 2691. Your first session is a free trial and assessment.
